Sleep is so important for a child's physical and mental health. Getting enough sleep is also needed to be a good learner! Studies have shown that getting adequate sleep results in improved attention, behavior, learning, memory, and emotional regulation. Experts recommend that children in grade-school get 9-12 hours of sleep every night.
Here are some tips on helping your child get enough sleep every night:
- Create, and stick to, a bedtime routine
- Encourage kids to turn off electronics 30 minutes before bed
- Practice quiet activities or relaxation techniques before sleep
- Limit light and noise in the bedroom
- Consider keeping bedrooms electronics free
