When to do if your child is sent home sick?

Travel Guidelines

The Vermont Cross State Travel map is now being updated on Tuesdays to help travelers better plan for weekend travel. If your family travels by car to a county on the map that is yellow or red, you are required to quarantine for 14 days upon returning to Vermont. Students are not allowed to attend school during this quarantine period.  Any travel outside of this map or by airplane also requires a 14 day quarantine. Visit the Vermont Department of Health website for information about travel.

Welcome Back Ospreys!

I'm so excited to have students back in the building! I know many kids (and parents) have lots of questions about what this school year is going to look like. The CSD nurses have been busy working with building leaders, teachers, and staff to help create plans for our students to return safely. This video created by two of our district nurses will answer many questions you may have.

I am available for any questions or concerns regarding your child. The best way to reach me is by email at Josie.Lang@colchestersd.org.

Covid-19 Q&A

Do you have questions about kids and Covid-19? The University of Vermont Children's Hospital hosted a Facebook Live event on May 8 to answer many of these questions. The interview is available here on the UVMMC website. These local pediatric experts answered questions about testing, visiting grandparents, masks, and scheduling routine pediatrician appointments for kids. A lot of helpful information for parents!

New Guidelines for Visiting Family/Friends

Staying home is still the best way to lower our risk of COVID-19, but many of us are eager to take small steps to safely see our friends or family again. This new information from the Vermont Department of Health will help give you guidance on how to safely allow some socialization, while still preventing new cases and serious illness from quickly increasing.
  • Continue to practice health and safety precautions: maintain 6 feet, wear a face mask, wash your hands, and stay home if you’re sick.
  • Keep your social circle small: pick just one other trusted household of family or friends that are also practicing safety precautions. Limit groups to 10 or fewer people.
  • Choose Safe Activities: gather outdoors if possible, avoid activities that involve sharing food or touched objects, avoid traveling to other locations.
  • Protect those at Higher Risk: people over 65 or those at higher risk should continue to stay home, and socialize by video or phone.
