Illness at MBS

Cold and Flu season is in full swing. Malletts Bay school is seeing an increase of students with cold and flu symptoms.

Symptoms of the flu include fever, headache, sore throat, cough, chills, muscle aches, and sometimes vomiting or diarrhea. Unsure if it's a cold or the flu? Here's a helpful chart

In order to prevent the spread of illness, please keep your child home when they are sick. They need to stay home at least 24 hours after a fever ends (without fever reducing medication such as Tylenol or Advil).

The best treatment for the flu is rest and fluids at home. If your child has an underlying condition such as asthma, they may need to be seen by their doctor. Think it's the flu, but not sure what to do? Follow these helpful guidelines from the Vermont Department of Health: What to Do About the Flu
